Former U.S. CTO Aneesh Chopra to Deliver Keynote at 2014 "I Love APIs" Conference

Apigee's Annual Event in San Francisco to Be the Epicenter of Digital Business Innovation; Chopra to Discuss How New Technologies Can Transform Government

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/05/14 -- Apigee®, developer of the leading platform for digital acceleration, today announced that Aneesh Chopra, former chief technology officer (CTO) for the United States, will deliver a keynote address at the second annual "I Love APIs" conference, to be held Sept. 8-10, 2014 in San Francisco. Chopra's address, "Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government," will discuss the accelerating speed of innovation and how this can reshape and improve government.

Register here for the "I Love APIs" conference before July 14 to receive the Early Bird discount.

"Anyone who went to the 'I Love APIs' conference last year walked away sensing that they had been to something big -- and to the start of something bigger," noted Chopra. "I am looking forward to contributing to Apigee's event again this year to explore how digital technologies and data are changing the fabric of our economy and government."

"I Love APIs" is one of the industry's most comprehensive gatherings of digital leaders from across the globe, bringing together CXOs, IT managers and app developers for strategic and deeply technical discussions on how to build and accelerate digital business. The event is expected to draw over 1,200 attendees and will feature four tracks of rich content in addition to an Internet of Things (IoT) showcase.

Chopra is the former (and first) U.S. CTO. As an Assistant to the President, he designed the National Wireless Initiative, helped launch Startup America, and executed an "open innovation" strategy across the government built on private sector collaboration -- opening up data, convening on standards and staffing "lean government startups." He is the author of the book, "Innovative State: How Technologies Can Transform Government," focused on how we can tap entrepreneurial problem solvers to address challenges in health, energy and education markets among other public and regulated sectors. Chopra is currently the co-founder and executive vice president of Hunch Analytics, a technology firm focused on improving the productivity of public and regulated sectors of the economy through data analytics.

Held at the historic Fort Mason in San Francisco, "I Love APIs" provides a unique setting with waterfront views and all-you-can eat lunch catered by the Bay Area's most popular food trucks. Attendees will be able to network with the movers and shakers of today's digital world over cocktails and conversation at a welcome reception Sept. 8 and an evening party Sept. 9. Apigee is also offering a "Harvest Networking Lunch and Wine Tour" in Napa Valley Sept. 11 to help attendees get the full Northern California experience.

Labor market analytics firm Wanted Analytics recently assessed the market for technology professionals and found that demand for people with proficient levels of Hadoop expertise had skyrocketed by around 33% since last year – it is true, Hadoop is hard technology to master and the labor market is not exactly flooded with an over-abundance of skilled practitioners. Hadoop has been called a foundational technology, rather than ‘just’ a database by some commentators – this almost pushes it towards...
