Aria Systems Launches Anthology on Succeeding in Internet of Things Market

Meet Aria Systems at Cloud Expo New York

Aria Systems on Thursday announced the launch of the first article in a nine-part series on the "Monetization of Things," a strategic and financial primer for businesses that are looking to achieve maximum financial benefit from the "Internet of Things" (IoT) phenomenon. Aria Systems Co-Founder and Chief Architect Brendan O'Brien co-authored the initial post: "Why the Internet of Things is Important," now available for viewing at Aria's website. O'Brien's thoughts on the subject kick off a series of articles on IoT subjects from featured industry experts.

"Our goal is to bring attention to the urgency of preparing for the IoT now, so companies can benefit early from tapping the new revenue streams that will flow from the monetization of things," said Jon Gettinger, SVP of Marketing, Aria Systems.

Gettinger noted that the market is just too big to ignore. Researcher IDC predicts that as many as 212 billion devices could be interconnected by the year 2020, with a potential worldwide market value to exceed $7 trillion.

"Many of the challenges of monetizing the IoT are the same as managing a recurring revenue business. Both require new thinking and new strategies. For both, success depends on having a portfolio of monetization options to create new sales and profits," added Gettinger.

Gettinger emphasized that companies must prepare now for the arrival of IoT in order to gain a strategic advantage, just as they have been adopting new recurring revenue models to take advantage of how consumers now buy and use products and services.

Other authors in the series include such industry experts as Jeff Kaplan of THINKstrategies; Bob Harden, former billing director at Experian, and now founder and principal at the Harden Group; Adam Hanft, from the Hanft Project; and others.

"All of the authors included in the series have something important to say about the Monetization of Things," concluded Gettinger. "The future success of your IoT business could depend upon understanding the opportunities and pitfalls the authors point out in this series."
