3DIcon Reports on First Steps in Initiating the Company's Pursuit of Government Funding in Partnership With Schott Defense

TULSA, OK--(Marketwired - May 29, 2014) - 3DIcon Corporation (OTCQB: TDCP), a developer of three-dimensional projection display technologies, today provided a report on its plans to seek federal funding as part of its Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Schott Defense, a world-class leader in the development of specialty glass for display technology and other uses.

The Company's Federal Funding expert consultant, Doug Freitag, reported that the following agencies and projects were currently being targeted for funding by the joint efforts of 3DIcon and Schott.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) invests in game-changing technologies that enhance situational awareness and battle management systems, mission training systems, materials science, design and inspection tools, information science, and unmanned autonomy operational capability. 3DIcon briefed DARPA staff and potential industry partners at Proposers Day on May 14, 2014 on the potential application of CSpace to a new DARPA program relating to in-cockpit automation. 

The Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E) invests in technologies that include the collection of energy-related data and analysis of these data. As the volume and complexity of data collected continues to grow, new technologies are being sought to improve decision making. ARPA-E has issued a request for proposal seeking new ideas for manufacturing technology that could be enhanced with volumetric 3D display technology. 3Dicon will respond to the proposal in partnership with Schott, submitting a concept paper in June.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) invests in new technologies that support their mission of timely, relevant, and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security. Automated Image and Geospatial Data Understanding is one of several R&D priorities. 3DIcon is scheduled to brief NGA on the collaboration with Schott and solicit its support for funding.

The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency (IARPA) Office of Incisive Analysis continues to solicit new ideas for data visualization technologies. Prior to submission of a concept paper to IARRA in June, 3DIcon will brief them on the collaboration with Schott and the value of utilizing 3DIcon's CSpace technology in analyzing imagery.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued multiple requests for proposals for the early stage development of technologies in biomedical computing, informatics, and big data science. Proposals are specifically being sought for advances in the visualization of complex data sets and visualization methods to improve decision-making, which could include 3D volumetric display. A portion of the funding is set-aside for small business. 3DIcon and Schott will be submitting a proposal in June directed to this set-aside. 

The US Air Force Research Lab invests in "Human Analyst Augmentation" which includes research to improve human analytical efficiency and enhance data exploitation. In a recent meeting with the staff of Oklahoma Senator James M. Inhofe, 3DIcon and Schott requested an increase to the investment being made by the US Air Force in "Human Analyst Augmentation" and to direct this additional investment to eyewear free volumetric 3D display technology. 3DIcon is working with Senator Inhofe's office to schedule a visit.

These projected targets would provide funding for the continued development of CSpace, 3DIcon's proprietary technology, primarily focused on the material necessary for the enlarged image space.

Mr. Freitag, observed that, in addition to the applications within the federal government that are based on 3D data that is being captured today via satellite, radar, sonar, LIDAR and other imaging systems, there also are significant opportunities for this technology for the visualization of "big data" within multiple organizations within the Department of Defense and the civilian agencies. Given that, there is a realistic and substantial opportunity for the Company to secure funding from one or more of the targets identified.
