Gridsum Debuts in North America, Partnering with Baidu to Help US Enterprises Expand in China

NEW YORK, April 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Gridsum, a big-data based cross-channel analytics and digital ad management platform, today commenced its North American operations with the announcement of a partnership with Baidu, China's leading search engine, and road shows in San Francisco and New York. As Baidu's master agent in North America, Gridsum will now offer businesses in the U.S. and Canada convenient, efficient online marketing channels into China. Harnessing Baidu's dominance in the Chinese search market, businesses and other organizations in North America can now tap into the enormous and fast-growing China market without having to build a marketing presence on the ground in China.

Chinese consumers spent about US$85 billion overseas in 2012. This year alone, Chinese outbound tourism surpassed 80 million person-times. China's Internet users now number over 600 million, with over 400 million users of the mobile Internet. Like their American counterparts, Chinese Internet users habitually go to search engines to gather information before making purchasing decisions. Search marketing is critical to connecting with consumers, and Baidu is the search engine of choice in China, processing about six billion search queries every day.

SEMPO's latest report indicates that nearly half of the global digital marketing budget was spent on search in 2013, out of which 31% was allocated to paid search and 18% to search engine optimization. The figures are basically the same in China. According to Analysys International, China's search engine operator market scale reached US$ 6.3 billion in 2013, and is expected to reach US$15.5 billion by 2015. The market's rapid expansion testifies to the huge demand for and confidence in the effectiveness of search marketing.
