Inphi Ships 1 Million DDR3 LRDIMM Memory Buffers

Inphi's Memory Buffer Enables Increased Memory Performance and Capacity for Server Virtualization, Big Data Analytics, HPC and Enterprise Storage Applications

SHENZEN, CHINA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/02/14 -- Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leading provider of high-speed mixed signal semiconductor solutions for the communications and computing markets, today announced it has shipped more than one million units of its Isolation Memory Buffer (iMB)™ for Load Reduced Dual-inline Memory Modules (LRDIMMs). LRDIMMs based on Inphi's iMB offer a significant performance improvement across high-density rack and blade server memory capacities -- a critical requirement as IT leaders look to boost data center performance and reliability, while maintaining compatibility with a host of critical applications.

Inphi's iMB technology, the industry's first fully compliant with the memory buffer specification of the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, helps reduce DRAM device and channel loading on the memory bus, enabling faster processing for big data applications and greater data center server consolidation with higher-capacity virtualized servers. This enables lower total cost of ownership with increased performance for cloud computing data center operators and Fortune 1000 enterprise data centers.

In an independent report made by the technology assessment company Principled Technologies, analysts found that doubling a server systems memory with LRDIMM memory and then using Inphi's iMB technology to reduce the data load times could produce up to 148.1 percent better performance(1).

Similarly, a recent Gartner report estimates that two-thirds of the server workloads are virtualized -- an environment that Inphi's iMB technology can optimize. This includes application, Web and database servers; hosted virtual desktops [HVDs]; and file, print and security servers that would normally be deployed on standard physical servers(2).
