Best Open Cloud for IoT Solution @ThingsExpo 2014

The June 2014 Shoot-Out Is On!

Cloud Expo Inc. has announced that the "Open Cloud for IoT Shoot-Out at @ThingsExpo New York " will take place at 14th Cloud Expo, being held June 10-12, 2014, at the Javits Center in New York City.

Nominations for participating vendors will be accepted through Twitter at @ThingsExpo.

The "Open Cloud Shoot-Out at @ThingsExpo New York," in which leading cloud providers are expected to participate, will be held live on stage at the event. The Shootout will provide the vendors with an opportunity to demonstrate the features and capabilities of their products, with a particular focus on interoperability, scalability, security, and reliability in terms of development, deployment, and management.

During the shootout, the vendors will show their best examples of integrating their Open Cloud strategy with the Internet of Things (IoT).

Cloud Expo 2014 Conference Chair Vanessa Alvarez, Technical Chair Larry Carvalho, and @ThingsExpo Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff will evaluate the tests both quantitatively and qualitatively.

The winner of the best IoT solution will then be determined by the votes of the conference delegates.

Note from @ThingsExpo Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff
"The Internet of Things (IoT) is assuming its place at the adult's table in conversations about Cloud Computing all over the world. Every major vendor has an IoT strategy. Software developers and hardware manufacturers are analyzing the scope and breadth of the IoT opportunity. We're entering the Zettabyte Age.

"But what does IoT mean for you? What does it mean for Cloud Expo attendees? Which companies are doing the best job integrating their Open Cloud platforms and solutions with the emerging IoT world?

"Our shoot-out will provide answers to these questions. As always, it's the buyers and users of technology who are the final judges.

Watch on YouTube: In this first App Server Shoot-Out (2007), live from Times Square, six finalist companies Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, BEA, JBoss, and Sun Microsystems debated their products as the best in the industry.

"We are inviting all @CloudExpo and @ThingsExpo exhibitors to send us their best example of integrating Open Cloud with IoT. We're not asking them for marketing hype. We're not asking them for product roadmaps or strategies. We're not asking them for demos.

"We're asking them for real-world examples of how they are integrating Open Cloud into IoT."

If Amazon knows your preferences for particular books and films based upon captured data, then they can apply analytics to predict related books and films that you may like. This improves sales. T...
Enthusiasm for the Internet of Things has reached an all-time high. In 2013 alone, venture capitalists spent more than $1 billion dollars investing in the IoT space. These technologies are quickly developing and with it come challenges such as bridging infrastructure gaps,...
Labor market analytics firm Wanted Analytics recently assessed the market for technology professionals and found that demand for people with proficient levels of Hadoop expertise had skyrocketed by around 33% since last year – it is true, Hadoop is hard technology to master and the labor market is not exactly flooded with an over-abundance of skilled practitioners. Hadoop has been called a foundational technology, rather than ‘just’ a database by some commentators – this almost pushes it towards...

There are 182 billion emails sent every day, generating a lot of data about how recipients and ISPs respond. Many marketers take a more-is-better approach to stats, preferring to have the ability to slice and dice their email lists based numerous arbitrary stats. Cloud and Big Data present unique dilemmas: embracing the benefits of these new technologies while maintaining the security of your organization’s assets. When an outside party owns, controls and manages your infrastructure and computational resources, how can you be assured that sensitive data remains private and secure?
