Revolution Analytics Positioned in the “Visionaries” Quadrant of the First Ever Gartner Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms

Revolution Analytics, the only commercial provider of open source R software, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in the “Visionaries” quadrant of the first ever “Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms”i. The report evaluated 16 vendors through a series of stringent criteria related to the ability to execute and completeness of vision.

As defined by Gartner, “advanced analytics is ‘the analysis of all kinds of data using sophisticated quantitative methods (for example, statistics, descriptive and predictive data mining, simulation and optimization) to produce insights that traditional approaches to business intelligence (BI) — such as query and reporting — are unlikely to discover.’” "Overall, the advanced analytics market is estimated at $2 billion (by Gartner) across a wide variety of industries (financial services, retail and e-commerce, and communications are probably the largest, although use cases exist in almost every industry) and geographies.” “This market has existed for over twenty years, and some have considered it to be relatively stable and mature; a state of affairs that, if it was ever true, is no longer so as the concept of big data has not only accelerated interest in the market but also posed significant disruption to it.”

“We view our position in the ‘Visionaries’ Quadrant in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platforms as validation of the innovation in the open-source R community, combined with Revolution Analytics’ enterprise expertise. This is a core differentiator that has enabled our young company to strive in ‘Completeness of Vision,’” said Dave Rich, CEO of Revolution Analytics. “Revolution R Enterprise 7 is integrated with a variety of data and compute environments to bring new levels of efficiency and scalability to advanced analytics in the enterprise. Our mission has always been to democratize predictive analytics so more businesses can revolutionize their operations with data-driven insights.”

The Magic Quadrant for Advanced Analytics Platform says “Visionaries are usually smaller vendors that embody the trends that are shaping, or will shape, the market. They represent an opportunity for some organizations to skip a generation in the use of technology in the market, or provide some compelling capability that will offer competitive advantage as a complement or substitute for existing solutions. As Visionaries mature and prove their ability to execute over time, they may move to eventually become Leaders.”

Revolution Analytics’ flagship product, Revolution R Enterprise 7 (RRE 7) is the only Big Data Big Analytics platform powered by R, the standard for modern analytics. RRE 7 features a unique “write once deploy anywhere” functionality that enables data analysts and IT teams to write code once and deploy it anywhere in a variety of data management platforms, enterprise data warehouses, grids, clusters, servers and workstations without re-engineering costs. It is the only Big Data analytics platform to include a library of Big Data-ready algorithms that run inside the Cloudera and Hortonworks Hadoop platforms and in Teradata databases, with the highest possible performance. Revolution Analytics is now offering RRE 7 on AWS Marketplace for on-demand access to R-based analytics.

As the fourth industrial revolution continues to march forward, key questions remain related to the protection of software, cloud, AI, and automation intellectual property. Recent developments in Supreme Court and lower court case law will be reviewed to explain the intricacies of what inventions are eligible for patent protection, how copyright law may be used to protect application programming interfaces (APIs), and the extent to which trademark and trade secret law may have expanded relev...
In a recent survey, Sumo Logic surveyed 1,500 customers who employ cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). According to the survey, a quarter of the respondents have already deployed Docker containers and nearly as many (23 percent) are employing the AWS Lambda serverless computing framework. It's clear: serverless is here to stay. The adoption does come with some needed changes, within both application development and operations. Th...
Docker and Kubernetes are key elements of modern cloud native deployment automations. After building your microservices, common practice is to create docker images and create YAML files to automate the deployment with Docker and Kubernetes. Writing these YAMLs, Dockerfile descriptors are really painful and error prone.Ballerina is a new cloud-native programing language which understands the architecture around it - the compiler is environment aware of microservices directly deployable into infra...
When Enterprises started adopting Hadoop-based Big Data environments over the last ten years, they were mainly on-premise deployments. Organizations would spin up and manage large Hadoop clusters, where they would funnel exabytes or petabytes of unstructured data. However, over the last few years the economics of maintaining this enormous infrastructure compared with the elastic scalability of viable cloud options has changed this equation. The growth of cloud storage, cloud-managed big data e...
