Geodialog Media Launches Our Earth Issues Indiegogo Campaign To Build Global Citizenship Ecosystem

Have A Hand In Globalization

CHICAGO, Jan. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Geodialog Media LLC has launched a campaign on international crowdfunding site Indiegogo to engage individuals from over 140 countries in building an unprecedented comprehensive intercultural news and social media ecosystem called Our Earth Issues™ (OEI) to put global citizenship into practice.

A world that is quickly becoming globalized needs to be understood on every level. With the use of patent-pending interactive video technology and a dedicated platform, OEI connects the dots on a single issue shared and reported around the world, and then breaks that news down to show how that single issue plays out in each country. Further you, the reader, tell YOUR story and how it fits into the bigger picture in your own profile page.

Later communities are formed to solve the earth's shared problems. The dedicated platform for the site offers GPS-crisis mapping, big data to put the issue into full context, and, in turn, a growing data pool about the issue thanks to the input of site members. The site will be accessible to participants by mobile phone. Where traditional media raises a topic and quickly moves on, OEI sticks with matters of concern with the hope of resolution, building communities dedicated to a cause and empowered by information.™

OEI comes at a key time in our history. According to a report released by the World Economic Forum (WEF), we live in a "fast-moving, highly interconnected world, yet our existing systems, structures and formal institutions no longer suffice. Pressing global problems can arise quickly and without warning. At the same time, new and unprecedented opportunities for global growth and positive change are emerging, ready to be harnessed for the future of humanity. Barriers between political, economic and social issues have dissolved; this is the new reality of our networked society.

Global, regional and industry developments are completely intertwined; and technological revolutions are changing the context for decision-making and disrupting our conventional learning processes."

And in another report - The Human Capital Report - the WEF says, "The key for the future of any country and any institution lies in the talent, skills and capabilities of its people."

Herein lies the power behind Our Earth Issues. OEI is an information, social and funding ecosystem that focuses on the shared issues, true assets, and unique experiences of the world's citizens. The result will be the fostering of cooperation among different socioeconomic, geographic and ideological groups.

OEI participants will be encouraged to coordinate their work with international entities including government and the United Nations and utilize crowdfunding sites such as Indiegogo to fund their community-chosen solutions.

Indeed, according to InfoDev, a global partnership program within The World Bank Group, preliminary modeling estimates that the possible market potential for crowdfunding in developing countries could reach up to $96 billion a year over the next 25 years. In the InfoDev report, AOL co-founder Steve Case highlights crowdfunding's potential in enabling the "Rise of the Rest."

"Our Earth Issues is a new independent media effort that takes both media and the concept of global citizenship to the next level," says Geodialog Media founder Christine Marie Nielsen. "We hope to connect the world's human and other plentiful assets with this project and help each individual find their voice, fostering a better understanding of how each individual's experience with an issue fits into the larger picture."

Indiegogo campaign participants will be some of the first to set up profile pages on OEI, and initiate the global movement. Their names will forever be preserved as the "founding mothers and fathers" of this monumental site. To encourage participation, there will be no membership fee to join the site.

The Our Earth Issues Indiegogo campaign can be found here.

Recently announced Azure Data Lake addresses the big data 3V challenges; volume, velocity and variety. It is one more storage feature in addition to blobs and SQL Azure database. Azure Data Lake (should have been Azure Data Ocean IMHO) is really omnipotent. Just look at the key capabilities of Azure Data Lake:
Data loss happens, even in the cloud. In fact, if your company has adopted a cloud application in the past three years, data loss has probably happened, whether you know it or not. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Bryan Forrester, Senior Vice President of Sales at eFolder, will present how common and costly cloud application data loss is and what measures you can take to protect your organization from data loss.

In turn, Tony will analyze how the key components of IoT ...
When it comes to IoT in the enterprise, namely the commercial building and hospitality markets, a benefit not getting the attention it deserves is energy efficiency, and IoT’s direct impact on a cleaner, greener environment when installed in smart buildings. Until now clean technology was offered piecemeal and led with point solutions that require significant systems integration to orchestrate and deploy. There didn't exist a 'top down' approach that can manage and monitor the way a Smart Buildi...

You have your devices and your data, but what about the rest of your Internet of Things story? Two popular classes of technologies that nicely handle the Big Data analytics for Internet of Things are Apache Hadoop and NoSQL. Hadoop is designed for parallelizing analytical work across many servers and is ideal for the massive data volumes you create with IoT devices. NoSQL databases such as Apache HBase are ideal for storing and retrieving IoT data as “time series data.”
Clearly the way forward is to move to cloud be it bare metal, VMs or containers. One aspect of the current public clouds that is slowing this cloud migration is cloud lock-in. Every cloud vendor is trying to make it very difficult to move out once a customer has chosen their cloud. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Naveen Nimmu, CEO of Clouber, Inc., will advocate that making the inter-cloud migration as simple as changing airlines would help the entire industry to quickly adopt the cloud wit...
Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds. Manual security compliance is slow, prone to human error, and represents over 50% of the cost of managing cloud applications. Determining how to automate cloud security compliance is critical...

VividCortex is the first unified suite of database monitoring tools specifically desi...
Organizations already struggle with the simple collection of data resulting from the proliferation of IoT, lacking the right infrastructure to manage it. They can't only rely on the cloud to collect and utilize this data because many applications still require dedicated infrastructure for security, redundancy, performance, etc. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Emil Sayegh, CEO of Codero Hosting, will discuss how in order to resolve the inherent issues, companies need to combine dedicated a...
