Appcara Adds CA AppLogic® Support to AppStack, Helping Speed Time to Value in the Cloud

Appcara today announced that its flagship AppStack® cloud application management platform now supports CA AppLogic®, a turnkey cloud platform, as part of a significant AppStack product enhancement delivered today. This represents yet another major supported platform for AppStack, and allows enterprises and service providers running CA AppLogic cloud platforms to speed time to value for an even broader range of cloud applications and infrastructure.

Industry analysts and CIOs alike agree that effective cloud management requires new and better tools that expedite both service provider and enterprise deployments than most DevOps groups presently have available in house. With its addition of CA AppLogic support, AppStack broadens the range of applications that enterprises and service providers can quickly deploy on their CA AppLogic cloud infrastructure. With AppStack and CA AppLogic, users dramatically expedite deployment of cloud applications and manage them efficiently across their life cycle, with:

  • Simple point-and-click on-boarding and lifecycle management to accelerate applications into AppLogic via the AppStack portal
  • A rich enterprise App Marketplace stocked with over 80 pre-packaged applications with categories including Big Data apps such as Hadoop
  • Easy publishing of new commercial or open-source cloud apps through the AppStack App Marketplace Publisher
  • Quick-launch for enabling fast application provisioning into CA AppLogic in just three clicks
  • Comprehensive multi-cloud support, allowing CA AppLogic users to swiftly move cloud Workloads from an even wider range of non-CA public and private clouds into CA AppLogic

“For customers to take full advantage of the growing range of cloud provisioning alternatives open to them, they need a streamlined way of both deploying applications workloads to any of those alternative environments - and managing them once they're there,” said Adam Famularo, senior vice president, CA AppLogic business unit, CA Technologies. “Appcara’s AppStack helps CA AppLogic customers fulfill these twin objectives by providing a reliable, uniform and well-automated means of making an application workload CA AppLogic-ready.”

AppStack provides a software platform for enterprise application orchestration on top of CA AppLogic. Through a unique data model-driven approach, AppStack can automate any application into any cloud, from simple stacks to complex multi-tier enterprise apps, and even large-scale distributed apps such as found in today’s Big Data world. By capturing and assembling these apps in its dynamic Configuration Repository, AppStack can fully automate the provisioning of apps into cloud environments such as CA AppLogic, and also provide runtime point-and-click management of these apps through the AppStack Portal over the duration of the application lifecycle. This eliminates the need for any low-level coding or scripting as may be required by server template based solutions.

“Complexity has stalled many organizations from moving their critical enterprise apps into the cloud, and made it harder for service providers to get them there,” said John Yung, CEO and founder, Appcara. “We are thrilled to work with CA to provide a simple point-and-click solution for onboarding and managing these complex applications into CA AppLogic cloud environments, so users can reap the full efficiency and cost benefits of cloud deployment.”

Appcara will demonstrate AppStack on AppLogic at CA World 2013 at the Mandalay Bay convention center in Las Vegas, April 21-24, 2013 in the AppLogic Pavilion. AppStack is also available for free trial download at www.appcara.com/trial.

DXWorldEXPO Digital Transformation Stories
In a recent survey, Sumo Logic surveyed 1,500 customers who employ cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). According to the survey, a quarter of the respondents have already deployed Docker containers and nearly as many (23 percent) are employing the AWS Lambda serverless computing framework. It's clear: serverless is here to stay. The adoption does come with some needed changes, within both application development and operations. Th...
Docker and Kubernetes are key elements of modern cloud native deployment automations. After building your microservices, common practice is to create docker images and create YAML files to automate the deployment with Docker and Kubernetes. Writing these YAMLs, Dockerfile descriptors are really painful and error prone.Ballerina is a new cloud-native programing language which understands the architecture around it - the compiler is environment aware of microservices directly deployable into infra...
When Enterprises started adopting Hadoop-based Big Data environments over the last ten years, they were mainly on-premise deployments. Organizations would spin up and manage large Hadoop clusters, where they would funnel exabytes or petabytes of unstructured data. However, over the last few years the economics of maintaining this enormous infrastructure compared with the elastic scalability of viable cloud options has changed this equation. The growth of cloud storage, cloud-managed big data e...
Your applications have evolved, your computing needs are changing, and your servers have become more and more dense. In an age of borderless networks, security for the cloud and security for the corporate network can no longer be separated. Security teams are now presented with the challenge of monitoring and controlling access to these cloud environments, at the same time that developers quickly spin up new cloud instances and executives push forwards new initiatives. The vulnerabilities created by migration to the cloud, such as misconfigurations and compromised credentials, require that security teams t...
AI and machine learning disruption for Enterprises started happening in the areas such as IT operations management (ITOPs) and Cloud management and SaaS apps. In 2019 CIOs will see disruptive solutions for Cloud & Devops, AI/ML driven IT Ops and Cloud Ops. Customers want AI-driven multi-cloud operations for monitoring, detection, prevention of disruptions. Disruptions cause revenue loss, unhappy users, impacts brand reputation etc.
Serverless applications increase developer productivity and time to market, by freeing engineers from spending time on infrastructure provisioning, configuration and management. Serverless also simplifies Operations and reduces cost - as the Kubernetes container infrastructure required to run these applications is automatically spun up and scaled precisely with the workload, to optimally handle all runtime requests. Recent advances in open source technology now allow organizations to run Serv...
