Alpine Data Labs Appoints Joe Otto as President and Chief Executive Officer

Big Data Sales Veteran to Expand Company's Presence in Data Science Market

SAN MATEO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/04/13 -- Alpine Data Labs, developer of scalable end-to-end data science solutions for Hadoop and big data, today announced that its board of directors has named Joe Otto as President and CEO. As CEO, Otto will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, growth, and management of Alpine.

Otto brings nearly 30 years of experience to Alpine, including extensive experience building high-performance sales teams and delivering innovative big data solutions to the market. Otto joins Alpine after five years as Senior Vice President of Sales and Services for Greenplum, which was acquired by EMC in 2010. Prior to joining Greenplum, Otto was the Vice President of the Midwest Area for Sun Microsystems, a $1 billion division focused on large enterprises across thirteen states. Previous to that, Otto served as Vice President of Sales for Infolibria Inc., a pioneer in distributed content management rich media infrastructure for service providers, and Synergistics Inc., a leading collaboration software platform for customer relationship management and marketing automation for large enterprises. Early in his career, Joe had significant leadership roles at both Sun Microsystems and Cisco Systems. At Cisco, Joe was part of the foundation team that established Cisco's Service Provider Business Unit and led telecommunications sales across North America.
