Bloomberg Conference in DC to Explore the Value of Big Data

As the sea of data continues to grow exponentially, organizations are exploring the challenges and opportunities of leveraging this intelligence. The Bloomberg Big Data Conference will gather technology and finance leaders in Washington, D.C. on March 14, 2013 to examine how public and private sector companies can take advantage of and draw the greatest value from big data.

The half-day conference, to be held at The Newseum, will explore how big data is being optimized in three key sectors: healthcare, energy and financial services. Analysts, editors and journalists from Bloomberg Government and Bloomberg Research will moderate discussions on the advances in storing, accessing and analyzing massive amounts of data and emerging issues leaders face in implementing big data strategies.

“In business, access to information translates into power, and the ways in which an organization mines for and uses data plays an integral role in determining its success,” said Jason Kelly, managing editor of Bloomberg LINK. “In the span of a few hours, attendees will gain actionable insight into the value of monetizing data assets and security and privacy issues surrounding big data.”

Additional speakers include:

  • Robert Coppola, Chief Technology Officer, McGraw-Hill Financial
  • Michael A. Farber, Senior Vice President, Strategic Technology and Innovation Group, Booz | Allen | Hamilton
  • Stefan Groschupf, Chief Executive Officer, Datameer, Inc.

  • George O. Strawn, Director, National Coordination Office (NCO), Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD); Co-Chair, NITRD Subcommittee of the National Science and Technology Council

Booz Allen Hamilton is a sponsor of the Conference. Michael Farber, Booz Allen senior vice president noted, “the flood of data demands that we find new ways to unlock business-driving insights, and that we train our analysts on the new technologies, tools and techniques. There are myriad issues to tackle – from security to making the business case. Importantly, unless we use techniques that change the way we access and analyze data, we risk missing out on the potential, and promise, of big data and the cloud.”
