Interior

The Mirage's spacious interior provides comfortable seating for up to five people, making it ideal for daily commuting or weekend drives with friends. Occupant space is maximised through the use of high-efficiency packaging.

In the cabin, the flat dashboard promotes a feeling of openness, while the glossy piano black centre panel adds a touch of style. In the Mirage LS, the interior receives silver accents on the shifter panel, gear knob and air-conditioning vents along with chrome door handles.

On the seats, ES and Sport models feature a plain knit black seat fabric while the LS model uses a soft, waffle-weave fabric in black and purple. Black and ivory two-tone dash and door trims in both models, bring lightness and a modern twist to the cabin.

Contoured front seats provide a comfortable drive position while the rear bench seat with flat cushion ensures all rear occupants, including the middle passenger, are seated in comfort. The flat, rear seating also maximises space to fit more than one child seat with ease.

The Mirage is packed with storage areas for small items including the front passenger glove box, dashboard tray above the glove box, centre console tray, front door pockets with bottle holder, front and rear seat drink holders and front passenger seat back pocket. There's plenty of space for luggage with a cargo area of 235-litres, which can be increased by folding down the 60/40 split rear seat.

Bluetooth 2.0 with audio streaming is standard across the Mirage range with the leather steering wheel featuring phone and audio controls to make it easier to listen to music and safer to take phone calls on the road. The Mirage makes the everyday drive easier with features such as power windows with driver side auto up and down, central locking with keyless entry and air-conditioning.

Mirage ES and Mirage ES Sport come standard with CD player, two speakers, USB and AUX input. In Mirage LS, driver convenience is enhanced with the addition of dusk-sensing headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and Keyless Operating System with one-touch start. The Mirage LS also comes with the added touches of climate-control air-conditioning to automatically maintain the perfect temperature and two additional speakers in the audio system to boost sound quality.

Exterior

Measuring in at 3,710mm long, 1,665m wide and 1,500mm high, Mirage provides generous space for five adults and everyday luggage all in a small package. A turning radius of just 4.6 metres gives the Mirage an amazingly tight turning circle, making it the ideal city vehicle.

The Mirage's clean design imparts an inviting and approachable appearance with the edgy headlamps and sculpted engine hood creating a friendly face. Extensive fluid analysis and wind tunnel testing resulted in the Mirage being designed to reduce air resistance. The result is a drag co-efficient of just 0.31 which contributes to lower fuel consumption. Airflow around the front end has been optimised by minimising the grille opening and crafting the front bumper undersurface to act as an air dam at its corners.

The Mirage provides excellent forward and side visibility due to the low-set belt line and location of A-pillars closer to front occupants. The gently curving roof line provides ample headroom for rear seat passengers while air resistance is further reduced through the use of a roof spoiler on the LS model.

Colour-matched door mirrors, exterior door handles and front and rear bumpers on all Mirage models complete the fluid, cohesive design while halogen headlamps enhance driver visibility when driving in low-light conditions.

Mirage ES Sport, based on the Mirage ES, comes with additional features to enhance the Mirage's clean lines such as 14-inch alloy wheels, roof spoiler, four speakers and door sash blackout.

In addition to the extra features found on the Mirage ES Sport, the Mirage LS comes with front fog lamps and 15-inch alloy wheels to boost its street presence.

Available in a selection of six richly-hued colours, there's a Mirage to suit every style. The sporty lines of the Mirage dazzle in Mulberry, Red Planet and Cyber Blue (excludes ES) while elegant Midnight Black (excludes ES), Cool Silver and classic White add a touch of understated style.

Engine

Powered by a 1.2-litre all-new MIVEC engine, the Mirage ES and Mirage ES Sport have outstanding fuel efficiency, returning 4.6L/100km. The LS 5MT returns 4.8L/100km and 4.9L/100km in the LS CVT.

The Mirage has low CO2 emissions of 109g/km in the ES and 113g/km in the LS manual and 115g/km in the LS CVT.

Mirage ES, ES Sport and LS models with five-speed manual transmission achieve the maximum five-star rating in the Federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport's Green Vehicle Guide thanks to low CO2 emissions and high fuel efficiency. Mirage models with CVT transmission score 4.5 stars in the Green Vehicle Guide.

The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine utilises Mitsubishi Motors' MIVEC variable valve timing system that optimally matches intake valve timing to engine speed and load. The air intake and exhaust systems, fuel system, cooling system and other ancillary systems have undergone extensive weight reduction while friction losses and loads in all moving parts have been reduced.

The engine produces maximum output of 57kW at 6000rpm and generates maximum torque of 100Nm at 4000rpm. Combined with a comparatively low weight, Mirage provides a nimble and confident performance.

The Mirage's MIVEC engine is mated to a five-speed manual or Continuously Variable Transmission, with both options providing peppy performance and easy-to-drive manoeuvrability.

Safety

Mirage is equipped with a range of standard safety systems including six SRS airbags (driver and front passenger, side and curtain), ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Active Stability Control which works to maintain stability and prevent loss of control while cornering. For child seat installation there are three tether anchors and two Iso-Fix rear seat child restraints fitted.

Bluetooth 2.0 is standard across the Mirage range and combined with steering wheel controls, makes it easier and safer to control music and phone calls while on the go. Mirage CVT models also have Hill Start Assist, which gives drivers extra peace of mind when taking off on an incline.

The Mirage uses Mitsubishi's RISE safety body design to provide an impact-absorbing front end with high-rigidity cabin structure. The extensive use of high-tensile steel panelling reduces the body weight of the Mirage helping contribute to better fuel economy and performance. The structural design provides impact energy-absorbing spaces under the engine hood and the fenders as well as energy-absorbing cowl top and wipers to mitigate head injury in the event of a pedestrian collision. The front bumper and headlamps also use an energy-absorbing design to minimise pedestrian leg injuries.

Enthusiasm for the Internet of Things has reached an all-time high. In 2013 alone, venture capitalists spent more than $1 billion dollars investing in the IoT space. Predicted by Gartner to add $1.9 trillion to the global economy by 2020, the Internet of Everything (IoE) is based on the idea that devices, systems and services will connect in simple, transparent ways, enabling seamless interactions among devices across brands and sectors. As this vision unfolds, it is clear that no single company can accomplish the level of interoperability required to support the horizontal aspects of the IoE. The AllSeen Alliance, announced in December 2013, was formed wi...
Goodness there is a lot of talk about cloud computing. This ‘talk and chatter’ is part of the problem, i.e., we look at it, we prod it and we might even test it out – but do we get down to practical implementation, deployment and (if you happen to be a fan of the term) actual cloud ‘rollout’ today? Cloud offers the promise of a new era they say – and a new style of IT at that. But this again is the problem and we know that cloud can only deliver on the promises it makes if it is part of a well...
There’s Big Data, then there’s really Big Data from the Internet of Things. IoT is evolving to include many data possibilities like new types of event, log and network data. The volumes are enormous, generating tens of billions of logs per day, which raise data challenges.
