Galleria’s New Mobile Cloud-Based Retail Portal Provides Anytime, Anywhere Access

Galleria Retail Technology Solutions, a global leader in retail and vendor category optimization solutions, today announced the Galleria Mobile Retail Portal as a new addition to its well-established, consumer-focused range of solutions.

The solution, which is part of Galleria’s evolving Cloud Platform, enables instant access to real-time information via a mobile device for increased collaboration between vendor, retailer and field personnel for enhanced space management capabilities at the shelf.

Ensuring that its retail technology remains in keeping with an increasingly mobile population, the Galleria Mobile Retail Portal enables accurate and current planogram information to be immediately accessed and viewed on a variety of devices including tablets and mobile phones. Planogram implementation becomes efficient and as a result, strategy execution is enhanced by ensuring that consumers see the products they wish to purchase, at the right time, in the right place and in the right quantity to suit their needs. This also helps to improve the retailer’s bottom-line through maximized compliance, minimized waste/mark-downs, improved product availability, increased sales, and maximized workforce efficiency.

According to Mike Humphreys, Galleria’s Chief Technology Officer, retailers and vendor field representatives see immediate benefits through instant access of dimensional shelf level data to enable the correct information to become available to those physically in front of the shelf. By capturing planograms and fixtures, along with layout scanning and reporting, the portal enables issues to be quickly identified and addressed at shelf level, ultimately enabling increased focus on improving compliance in those stores with identified recurring issues.

“Mobile has become a pervasive influence for consumers in every channel and we’re helping retailers and vendors collaborate more effectively at the shelf to enable them to react to their customers increasing demands,” Humphreys said.

A key element within Galleria’s new Cloud Platform is also the portal’s ability to allow immediate transfer of product level information, including assortments, planograms and images for on-demand, permission-based viewing in-store.

“Retailers will also realize cost benefits through limited infrastructure cost and cloud hosting at times when data is not required, which removes the need for costly storage,” Humphreys said. “Overall, the portal provides a robust amount of retail technology with only a light footprint into their IT organization,”

“Trust is an ongoing journey and sits at the foundation of any vendor relationship – the companies that don’t consistently earn trust won’t be around long,” noted Henrik Rosendahl, Senior VP of Cloud Solutions at Quantum, in this exclusive Q&A with Cloud Expo Conference Chair Jeremy Geelan. “As they do more with cloud, trust will organically grow – maybe it’s just about meeting SLAs or seeing firsthand that data is there when you need it,” Rosendahl continued. If zettabytes of data exist, why is less than 1% of the world’s data being analyzed today? Seasoned entrepreneur and startup CEO Radhika Subramanian believes that the inability to analyze and gain value from Big Data is that organizations are taking a services-centered approach. As the title of the session implies, Subramanian believes that the data needs to do the talking, not armies of analysts searching and querying databases. Her company has developed high-speed, advanced algorithms to autom...
Cloud enables SMBs to access new, scalable resources – previously only available to enterprises – in flexible and cost-effective ways. McKinsey’s SMB Cloud Report projects the public cloud market to reach $40-$50 billion by 2015, with SMBs comprising 65% of public cloud spending in 2015. But selling cloud to SMBs raises the questions of who, what and how. In this session Manjula Talreja, VP of Cisco’s Global Cloud Business Development Team, will discuss the importance of knowing who SMB...
Analyzing Hadoop jobs and speeding them up is often a tedious and time consuming effort that requires experts. In his upcoming session at 12th Cloud Expo | Cloud Expo New York [10-13 June, 2013], Michael Kopp will be showing how proven APM techniques can be used to speed up Hadoop jobs at the core, without going through tons of log files, beyond just adding more hardware and within minutes instead of hours or days.

A recent study by analyst firm IDC reports that in 2012, 1.7 million cloud computing-related roles across the globe could not be filled due to the lack of training, certification and experience in the applicant pool. As the global demand for cloud and big data expertise increases, employers are finding it difficult to recruit talent, which is slowing down the ability for organizations to adopt, implement, and realize benefits from innovative platforms like OpenStack.
