Smart Enterprise Magazine: Identity as the New Perimeter
The cloud-based mobile enterprise needs special protection. Centralized identity management is the best solution, says John Hawley of CA Technologies. Read “Identity as the New Perimeter,” in the new issue of Smart Enterprise magazine Fearless: How IT Security Empowers Business. Download the free iPad app or read the online edition today.
By Mike Denning, CA Technologies
CA Technologies customer surveys and studies consistently find security remains IT’s top concern about the cloud. IT professionals intuitively see and fear the risks involved in moving to the cloud, with its associated loss of control over the physical environment, processes, policies, and people.
This lack of confidence in cloud security has been, and continues to be, a major inhibitor to enterprise cloud adoption and the potential benefits. That can change, however, if the security focus is changed from data to identity. By putting identity first, you achieve a profound shift in security posture that can transform security from an inhibitor to an enabler of enterprise cloud adoption. Read the full article.

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...
