BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 3 — The Active Archive Alliance announced today that Cleversafe and CSC have joined the Alliance. The addition of these two innovative members extends the reach of the Active Archive Alliance in promoting expanded solutions that help solve the issue of cost-effectively storing, securing and accessing rapidly growing unstructured data. The new members offer the Active Archive Alliance expertise, technology and thought leadership in Object Storage and High Performance Computing.

Cleversafe leads the industry in object-based Dispersed Storage implementations with over 15 billion objects stored across customers in media and communications, healthcare, geospatial and the federal government. “The Active Archive Alliance has paved the way, making it easy for companies to accommodate long-term data storage needs,” said Russ Kennedy, vice president of product strategy, marketing and customer solutions for Cleversafe. “We are pleased to be joining many of the biggest leaders and innovators in the storage industry to provide object-storage solutions as part of the Active Archive Alliance.”

CSC provides big data storage and management solutions to meet the growing needs of the commercial and federal government sectors in high performance computing environments. “Our history in serving the federal government provides an opportunity for the Alliance to more effectively reach this market,” said Steven Baxter, program manager for CSC. “We look forward to collaborating with the Alliance members and our customers to deliver customized active archive solutions that meet today’s demanding data storage needs.” Organizations are retaining increasing amounts of unstructured data as they grapple with file system growth, long-term retention, compliance rules and the need to leverage the knowledge and information within their organization. Active archives enable organizations to solve the challenge of retaining and accessing that data with flat or decreasing storage budgets.

“Cleversafe and CSC will help further our mission to align the market education and proper technologies to meet the rapidly evolving requirements for long-term storage and access of unstructured data,” said Molly Rector, executive vice president of product management and worldwide marketing at Spectra Logic, and chairman of the Active Archive Alliance. “The continued growth of the Alliance membership and our success in delivering end-user adoption of storage solutions that scale from TB to PB and even into EB of accessible file storage, underscores the value of this approach to managing and storing the massive amounts of data being created on a daily basis.”
